This just happened:

I was so excited taking the photo that I must’ve jogged the phone as I took the photo, resulting in this slightly blurry green blob amongst the soil. Yes! I CAN still grow seeds! Every since I placed the hard brown seeds in the soil a few weeks ago I have thrown into question science itself; maybe the simple facts of germination and propagation just do not apply to me. Maybe I have an unlucky gene that kills seeds or plantlings dead on contact with my skin. Or maybe (more likely) it’s just not been warm enough to bring the seeds to green life. But – HOORAY! What a gift to see this little green shoot sitting quietly amongst the mud. January is a looong month and I shall be glad when we tip into February, especially as it will bring with it longer days and more seeds to plant. BRING. IT. ON.
